DOWNSVIEW URBANISM(S)
Cities are constituted by multiple, interconnected forms of urbanism. The interplay of these forms underlies and shapes the spatial - and social, cultural, political, environmental, energetic, infrastructural, technological, etc. - identity of a place. These identities, however, are everchanging and demand new forms of urbanism in return.
With construction, obliteration, and transformations happening at all times and everywhere, urban environments are anything but stable and need constant calibration
Our concept explores the insularity of the Downsview site - which appears as a hole, separated by boundaries from its surrounding landscape.

Morphology
How has the Downsview site boundary morphed over time in conjunction with Urban Planning Paradigms?
Boundary Study
+ An photographic exploration of different boundaries experienced in and around the Downsview site, including both physical and administrative barriers.
Boundary Typologies
+ An photographic exploration of different boundaries experienced in and around the Downsview site, including both physical and administrative barriers.

Spatial Atlas
+ Mapping typologies at the spatial scale to understand their methods of creating boundaries at the site.
Transect Synthesis
+ Boundary typologies are deployed along the transect to spatialize the practice of boundary-making and to understand moments of dissolving and enforcing borders in and around the site.
Precedents
+ Boundary typologies are deployed along the transect to spatialize the practice of boundary-making and to understand moments of dissolving and enforcing borders in and around the site.
